After doing the interview Gary & I started talking about John Halliwell's solo project.

[GH] Just one little thing before you go. I'm not sure if its something that you're not supposed to know but I picked John up today & drove him down here. He played me some of his solo stuff. And it sounds  ... like its gonna be "Oh Yes!",

Is it going to be a solo project or is it going to be a Kage release ?

[GH] It's gonna be "John Halliwell's .... something or other" ... but its him and a singer. The singer's got a great voice, very rich voice, very powerful. John's played all the instruments, not a keyboard in sight ...but you wouldn't know ...lush. And I'm pleased for him cause he doesn't really get that much of a chance to play on the TEN stuff. And he sounds ... well he's a force to be contended with ... its gonna be great.

At this points Gary brings John into the conversation.

[JH] I've got about 30 songs ... I've yet to pick a running order.

When we last talked, you said they were still in demo form ?

[JH] They're now actually finished, right. I'm transferring them over to digital so that I can actually mix the thing now.

So you're going to do the mixing ?

[JH] Everything ... yeah. I've done everything, I've written the songs, I've played all the guitars, all the bass ...

Done the artwork ?

[JH] Yup done the artwork. I've not sung ... I'm not a singer. I've brought in a singer to do it.

Is this the guy you worked with in Kage ?

[JH] Yeah. He's alright. he's a good singer ... he's very much like Sabbath's Tony Martin ... that kind of vain.

[GH] He's got a very rich voice.

[JH] He's not dissimilar to Gary in ways. He's not a screamer. He's more of a singer ... a real singer.

[GH] He's got a voice very similar to me but stronger.

[JH] He did the rock mode that I love, right. I don't like all that screaming bollocks, just doesn't do anything for me.

[GH] Its something to wait and listen out for !
